Short Putt Drill

GIST: Instructions and diagram for a simple drill to help you practice your short putts. In brief, putt from different points around three concentric circles around the cup, moving progressively further away, until you hole everything. Miss, start over.
MY TAKE: Mickelson does this I think, or something like it, and we all know he’s on the short list of guys you’ll want to take the putt if your life’s on the line. Effectively repetitive and straightforward. A slight slope will present an even more interesting challenge as you go around the circle. But most interesting (and probably most helpful) is the pressure “mind game” that comes into play:
“Pay attention to how you react as you near the completion of the drill… Does your grip pressure increase? Do you hear ‘evil’ voices? Does your routine speed up?”
Good questions. Hopefully someday I’ll get close enough to the end of the drill to know the answers. [GO]
