Tips for Correcting a Golf Slice

GIST: Three common causes of the typical golf slice, and how to fix them.

MY TAKE: Gresham knows whereof he speaks. And I know this because it looks like everything he mentioned were causes at one time or another of my previous slicing problem.

Previous? Whoopee! No more slicing problem (knock on wood). My latest fix was a swing mechanics thing — I eventually figured out how to let the club release properly. Now, I just occasionally push the ball right, which by the way isn’t a slice. That’s critical to know. Just because it goes right (or left, if you’re a leftie) doesn’t mean you’ve sliced it. Why critical? Because that determines what fixes you’ll need to look at and try. Diagnose it incorrectly and work at the wrong fix, and you’ll probably find yourself in a heap more trouble, especially if you’re a stubborn do-it-yourselfer with no one looking over your shoulder to help set you straight (unfortunately, here I really know what I’m talking about).
